Lillypilly Estate 2002 Noble Blend
Sweet white wine, made from sauvignon blanc (80 per cent), semillon (10 per cent), muscat of alexandria (5 per cent) and riesling (5 per cent) grapes infected with noble rot.
VINTAGE COMMENTS: One of the coolest years in the history of our winery. Great varietal flavour and wonderful balance. The season was relatively dry but at the end of the season we had just enough moisture to encourage the onset of botrytis.
TASTING NOTES: Golden yellow with some green tinge. Floral, spicy and tropical fruit aromas. Intense and luscious palate with a lively lift.

Lillypilly scores Winestate Sweet White of the Year
Winestate magazine has named Lillypilly 2002 Noble Blend as its 2006 Sweet White of the Year. The judging panel's comments included: "An outstanding sweet wine, deep golden in colour. Very complex: floral, honeyed aromas mingle with butterscotch, spices, apricot, cumquat and mixed citrus peels. There's a lot of botrytis evident, and it's rich and quite viscous in the mouth, sweet, ample, almost luscious, with soft acidity. READ FULL REVIEW

PENGUIN GUIDE: Lillypilly Estate 2002 Noble Blend
‘The 2002 vintage was one of the coolest on record in the Riverina and produced fruit with exceptional varietalintensity and balance,’ says Robert Fiumara. He was worried the season was so cool and dry, the botrytis might not develop. ‘But late in the season the morning mists moved in and provided the ideal environment for botrytis to work its usual magic, concentrating sugar, acid and flavour.’
CURRENT RELEASE 2002: An outstanding sweet wine, deep golden in colour and smelling very complex: floral, honeyed aromas mingle with butterscotch, spices, apricot, cumquat and mixed citrus peels. There’s a lot of botrytis evident, and it’s rich and quite viscous in the mouth sweet, ample, almost luscious, with soft acidity. It would suit mango and strawberry millefeuille.

Lillypilly Estate makes a quartet of excellent stickies. This one heads the range ... It's not as thick and unctuous as some but that's a good thing the flavours are clean and fresh, and with citrus- or apple-flavoured desserts, it's hard to fault. SEE CLIPPING
